You can reduce costs in all areas where you are using resources or spending money. How much you can reduce your costs is a function of the present efficiencies of your processes and activities and your ability (and tenacity) to improve them.

First you must identify all the costs associated with each activity. Then some analysis must be done to determine what is a reasonable or acceptable level of spending for this activity. This will allow you to make the necessary cost reductions. Once done, however, these costs should be documented and reported on a regular basis.

Most managers are quite surprised at how many resources ($) are consumed for each activity.
