Well that depends upon what it is you want the software to do. Are you looking to find something to handle your accounting needs or are you needing a system to track your inventory? Perhaps you require a software package that will meet all your needs; accounting, inventory control, purchasing, human resources, etc..
First you will need to gather information from each of your operating departments to determine their requirements, specifically what they are tracking and what reports they will need. This survey needs to be quite detailed. For example if your inventory must be tracked by lot or serial number then the software you select must have this feature. Another important question that must be answered is what is your budget? Keep in mind that software is usually based upon the number of users, so this must be determined also.
